Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper
Snuck out for a sneaky little fish yesterday in very murky water and ended up with one right as I was about to leave.
That murky water water as a result of the rain we had the other day seems to have resulted in a black-water event and some fish kill. Saw several floating Carp and Eels down there today.

Couple I got down at the creek during lockdown - allegedly .
Getting a bit cold for me now, might pack the rods away for a bit.
I'm declaring it the end of the 'season'.

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper
Perhaps scratch my previous post...still going strong! Headed out to Taylor's Lake in the states west for a spot of fishing. Was blowing a howling gale all day but it did little to perturb the Carp, who were biting at regular intervals which kept the day interesting. Interestingly, I caught the 'big' one on chicken, in search of a native...never caught a carp on chicken before!
Not done with yet...although looking at the weather forecast...I might be!

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper
Went for another "drive-thru" experience today: drove up to the spot, chucked the rods in, then waited in the car for an "inevitable" bite. Winters' fishing at its best. The fish were a bit more tardy than the other day, but at least I got one. This one came in at 60cm and succumbed to a scrubworm/corn combo.

Bait - How and Where to Get It
There's an old expression in fishing and that is "he's a good fisherman", but perhaps it should be relayed "he's got good bait, because good bait catches good fish. We have all, at one stage or another, been frustrated by a fellow angler catching all the fish and this is usually a result with an angler having a superior variety of fresh bait.

That's what I thought too TX. But all you need is PATIENCE and TIME. And maybe just a little bit of luck...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper
Snuck out today in almost perfect conditions - not cold and hardly any wind! Unfortunately, the fishing was a little slow, as is to be expected this time of year, but I did manage to land a small one on my 'lucky red rod'. A little while after that I got a more substantial bite, a Carp to the tune of 4-5lb, but it swam away with my hook! That is the trouble with catching 'too many' fish. About 90% of the fish I have caught in the last week have been on that rod, and I fear it may have weakened the knot just a little bit...so another one got away.
