Any tips for cherry lake?
Any tips for cherry lake?
Was going to go out on the kayak at cherry lake tommorow to target some carp (just for the fun of catching), i went once a few weeks back land based but didnt catch anything. I was thinking of using corn for bait and bring some soft plastics if i can sight cast a few. Any tips? Thanks

Never fished there. But for me, when everything is not working, unweighted (or lightly) scrub worms during sunrise/sunset usually works.Tadyyn wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 7:56 pmWas going to go out on the kayak at cherry lake tommorow to target some carp (just for the fun of catching), i went once a few weeks back land based but didnt catch anything. The carp there are always on the move, often along the edges. You'd be surprised how shallow even the big carp will come.
Tomorrow (Saturday) is reasonably overcast so you should be able to sight them. Softs and lures have never worked for me there, but unweighted corn under a float mid water works quite well.

Unweighted bread is also a good one, if you roll it into a ball you can still get a bit of distance on your cast. Unweighted worms are killer as already mentioned.

If you need to buy worms, I know anaconda stock them (or did).
About $10. Check the contents at the counter, if they have been in the fridge too long, there'll be no worms visable.

A while back on Talking Fishing it was said you can't put any sort of craft on the lake, you can't fish there either.

I'm trying to remember, parts of the lake are no fishing, mainly the northern half (?). I don't remember a no boating sign, but, you could be right
