Trout Stocking Lakes Info

Me and my mates head down to Lilydale a fair bit we started going in late January. We have caught 2 reddies, 2 eels and a trout in our 4 trips. (All on worms). Was just wondering when they get stocked specifically and if I should be waiting until they grow and become more comfortable with their surroundings. Do they get stocked before the holidays as well because we will be going again soonish. (We aren't part of the white bucket brigade don't worry) We just want to know some ways to catch a fish or two.

Has all the stocked lakes and how many fish were stocked

Well done on your catches at Lilydale lake - it can be a hard lake to have success in at times.

This list is just the 77 lakes that fisheries stock with trout for school holidays - some of these, and more also getting native stockings.
Also add in river stockings around the place and fisheries are doing a good job on getting fish out there.
Would be nice if they added the Yarra to that list - but that is my only gripe.....otherwise they do do a good job

Interesting take chris.
Personally I would appreciate it if they backed off on the trout stockings in a lot of those lakes and added some more natives to the mix

The stockings in those lakes are aimed at giving kids a reasonable chance at catching a fish mate. Adding natives will not do that, regularly fed dumb hatchery trout will...it's as simple as that.
