St Leonard’s boat ramp question

Post by Captain8 » Tue Jan 03, 2023 10:25 pm

I’m in Geelong next week, and considering dragging the boat to launch.

Does anyone have any specific advice on dangers, will be with a 5.5m boat m.

Are certain ramps deeper, and does st Leonard usually fish best for whiting during a Running tide ?

Finally, does the ramp cope a huge amount of traffic, as my kids would probably come if the ramp was safe enough

No real dangers only large channel markers but if you go too far out the West Sand Bank is very shallow
At low tide when you face the Boat Lanes use the 2 l/H ones,When at hi tide doesnt matter
This time of year its pretty full on thats why I go out at 0330 in the morning
Ramp in safe and easy to launch

Sorry Dennis, just looking at the weather the next few days.

Is a 10knot Southey, sW relatively easily to fish in?

Anything S leaves you quite exposed, but if there is enough W in it it'll shelter you from the land.

Thanks everyone, had a great time in St Leonards - beautiful spot.

Fishing was HOT!

Ramp sure does get busy, esp when the weather blows up - plenty of fish which kept everyone entertained.
