St Leonards Calamari - Murky 7/9/2022

Post by Andrews » Wed Sep 07, 2022 2:58 pm

Hey everyone,

Quick post about a midday flick today, the NE winds over the weekend have done a number to the clarity.
Run in side of high is murky (1.5m vis), run out is pea soup.
Pier is still pretty clean and lacking ink.

Fished:
10 - 12
Clear skies, full sun
Murky 1.5m vis
Slack high, run out
NE wind like 15km

Photo doesn't do the clarity justice, heavy sediment and real milky.
Started on the white jig 3.0, and within three casts we're into this tiny hood. Kept it as a whole bait ready for when the snaps start.

Didn't see anything else caught during the session, just was nice to get out of day off work, enjoy the sun and snap a few photos.

Cheers,

Cheers Fisho, just nice to be out enjoying the good weather haha.

Unfortunately, we haven't recently Fishnut. Start of winter we had a few, but since then we've really hadn't had any decent gars. Spoke to a few locals who I know fish for gars 3-4 times a week, and they've been finding it slim pickings. We've noticed a few baby gars around, so fingers crossed by mid-spring we have a few active.

Yes I have there’s a bit parsley, mint, lemon, lime and edible flowers all go well with squid.

That'll be me in summer, cracking out the little burner and cooking up some fresh squid, lime and chilli can't wait.
