Great day today launched at Point richards around 915 headed straight out to the other side of the channel. Our aim gummies and flathead we started our drift my mate was was quickly on the board 3 flathead but all undersize.
We had 3 big baits out and we were flicking soft plastics. Then 1 of my rods screams off a nice gummie 61 cm the measured length a few more flathead then my rod with the whole squid takes off then stops 2 mins later it's back but this time it's on it empties half the braid on my 4000 sustain on its 1st run then another pump and wind it back the first time it surfaced it rolled over and slapped the water with its tail a big 7 gill round the 30 to 40 kg mark big ugly fat thing I got it to the boat pulled the hooks and let it go.
We had a few more runs but they didn't stick at 230 we headed home to clean the flathead and gummie the home to wash the boat and a couple of beers.
