Another cracking day

Post by Nude up » Tue May 10, 2022 7:46 pm

After yesterday we went out again this morning around 930 we headed down to Clifton Springs same spot as yesterday, we picked up 8 whiting pretty quick all good size then it went quite. I started flicking my squid jig into the adjacent weed bed and picked up 3 smallish squid then I hooked one that was a stonker it was pulling string with every pulse a cracker.
We moved a few other times further past Clifton Springs but got nothing banjo's and tiny wrasse nibbling the squid.
We headed back to Clifton Springs straight out from the boat ramp using the electric spot lock to hold us in a sand hole surrounded by weed beds we thought this was going to be the spot no whiting but fantastic squid all good size but even they went off the bite so we headed home for a beer.
The point richards Rd boat ramp is closing Monday while they build the new rock wall

Hey Nudie that looks more like a grass whiting in the bucket than a wrasse ?

You could be right I couldn't see any of the green lines they have it was small that bucket is only a 2lt container used to store chicken pellets

Hey Nudie I found this, my suspicions were correct - King George whiting have a break half way along the dorsal fin, grass whiting have a full dorsal fin along the whole length.Color varies dramatically between male and female grassy's.

You can't complain with a session like that, solid number of squid for sure!
