Very slow day

Post by Nude up » Tue Sep 28, 2021 7:02 pm

Went out today tue 28th with my neighbour we targeting squid and flathead we headed down to Clifton Springs we picked up 2 squid then 5 drifts for nothing. We then headed down to curlewis and drifted just using soft plastics a few small flathead a gurnard my mate hooked a cracking pike but the hook pulled at the boat.
We headed into the inner harbour drifted for nothing so we pushed on to the yacht club and drifted for 1 flathead at 32cm many undersize and some salmon which were kept for bait .

Beautiful day on the water heaps of people on the geelong waterfront quire a few people fishing but not many catching so we headed back to portarlington stopping at Clifton Springs for 2 more squid good size I don't have a picture of the squid made a mistake with my phone whoops.
Had a few reports of snapper deep off St leonards so poss fishing trip Friday.

Cracking day to be out there.
Did you take and eat that gurnard? I heard it's good eating.

I was also out there today for the first time.
Just felt awesome being on the water again. Gave the boat a good run. At least you got a few squid!
Cheers 👍🏻

I was out the same day but drifted all over Indented Head and Portarlington... Picked up 18 squid in 3 hours. Was fairly choppy but about 2 hours from tide change it went bezerk. Funny how the 2 areas are so close and similar grounds but different results

That flat water just hits differently. We went out the same day and just got a whole heap of gurnards.
