A late start today 10 am few minor jobs to get done but I couldn't waste the day. I headed down to Clifton springs a quick 8k run past the mussel farm from port. I had bought a new squid jig recommended to me by some you tube squid guru I met its called cucumber green with black stripes.
I was by myself so I was going to have 2 sleeper rods and one in the hand. I flicked the cucumber out turned round to get the next rod and bang it was on I couldn't believe it. 1 squid in the bucket ripper I flicked out the other 2 jigs in my go to colours prawn and a gold with brown. 2 drifts nothing I was a bit disappointed I thought I was going to be in with the green one.
I changed jigs to silver and blue and my luck changed 6 more drifts bag of 10. One was an arrow head squid which I have never caught at Clifton springs only on Prince George bank.
I headed back to port out to the start of the channel and started to drift using pilchards and squid 3 banjos 2 swell sharks and loads of flathead with 14 of them over 30 cm back at the ramp for 230.
The wind dropped off to nothing I had to bring my drogue in to get any drift.

I think cucumber is the perfect way to describe that jig, loving seeing those nicer sized squid too!
