St Leonard's Calamari 18/02/2020

Post by Andrews » Fri Feb 19, 2021 5:44 pm

Hey Everyone,

After five days of lockdown, you know it was great to get out.
Quick session after work, didn't want to stay too long to beat any crowds.

Murky (1m clarity) run in tide, moderate sediment with a deep green tinge. Squid were quiet and smaller, but perfect bait size.
Managed four smaller quick on the rattle jig.
Full sun, moderate E wind, should be cleaner over the weekend.
Taking videos now for that #Instagram game.

I'll be fishing again Sunday, should be a good day.

Hi Andrew. It was great to meet you today. Thanks for the chat. Did you manage any other than the juvies? I didn’t manage anything other than two small guys and a goat fish (all released). Nice to finally get to head down and wet a line.

Hey, great meeting you too!
I ended up getting one nice sized squid before things quieted down, pretty slow day all around.
Quite a few smaller squid, but they were just too hesitant haha.

They were very hesitant, weren't they. I was watching a couple of smaller guys dart out from under the pier, go within a few inches of my jig and dance around it for a bit, before disappearing again.
I may just have to start making a habit of heading down, more often.

Haha! Those little ones love to play with the jigs, but they just aren't aggressive enough to fully commit to striking!
It's a definitely a stunning place to be even on a doughnut session!

Cheers Lightningx! I'm hoping to keep filming and chasing the squid over the next few days, makes for more engaging content!
