Clifton Springs 25/05

Post by Tim399 » Sat May 25, 2024 2:02 pm

Just a quick report - fished early morning to about 10am. Overcast/slight fog all morning, near glassed out. Squid slow initially (run out tide), being on the smaller side with better sizes firing up around 9:30am closer to the slack tide. Tried for whiting with the plastics, couldn’t find them but caught a handful of ballpark 25cm flathead.

In around 2.8m the bottom looked like small patches of grass/weed growing back after the thick blanket of brown algae. Still some brown algae in the shallows.

Great report there Tim!
Looks like you managed a great bag of calamari!
I went out Sunday and bagged within an hour, nothing huge but decent sized.

It’s always a good time when the squid are firing! Sunday looked like good conditions too, although I have found sunny conditions can be hard going for squid. Well done on the fast bag!

I couldn't agree more with that!
Yeah, I guess something has them hungry!
