How far down point Wilson can you take a car?

Google maps shows twenty nine mile road leading upto the pier but I'm also conscious the road could be gated well before.

Not looking to fish the pier but launch the kayak near it

Coming off main highway about 2 ks down there is a don't enter sign straight ahead and road to left to take you to ramp n road to right to take you to Geelong/Avalon.

If you take ramp Rd ,there is a exit before ramp on rights,it's a dirt track and ends well short of pier.

If you take the do not enter road ita end up in a U turn with gate at end.

Sorry bowl - I can't figure out your directions.

Point Wilson rd turns into twenty nine mile road that leads to the pier. Quick Google says the area near the pier is an explosives storage area, so I'm presuming point Wilson rd becomes gated at some point?

Best access to there is either Avalon, Kirks Point or head across the bay from Clifton Springs.

ramp is at the end of beach rd. Alternatively just as you get close to ramp there is a rough dirt road on the right which takes you to the other side of Kirks point to a beach launch. That continuous loop around road labelled Lodge rd on google maps no longer exists and hasnt for years, That track is a dead end at the beach Its a fair trek by kayak from there across to point Wilson pier itself. Which you are not allowed close to.

You can go from Avalon but that is also a fair trek. To kayak around the pier is a fair way out. Most kayakers launch and fish around kirks point, some also refer to this area rather loosely as point Wilson

Thanks all found some gps marks for that general area that were <1.5km from shore so was interested to launch near and check them out, but looks like the nearby launch won't be possible. Cheers for saving me the wasted exploratory drive!
