Cunningham pier 4/11/2019

Post by wem21 » Tue Nov 05, 2019 9:18 am

Hey all,
Was visiting my cousins who live up that way, headed to the pier at around 6pm, me on the lure and my cousins on bait. At around 6:15, third cast in, as I was reeling in my lure to recast a massive snook came out of nowhere and smashed it on the surface, it looked like it was as long as my arm :o_0: unfortunately I didn't get the hookup as it was the last thing I was expecting. I fished for about another hour but had to leave because the storm had come. I did manage to catch a snook, not nearly as big as the other but still alright, gave it to my cousins for gummy bait.

My cousins on the other hand were smashing it with freshly caught squid, ended up with 4 kgw and a pinky in the hour, pinky went 30cm and the kgw were around the 30mark, with one standout going for 42cm

Was a good night, shame we had to leave the fish biting as bad weather decided to pull up on us.

Cheers

Sounds like an awesome evening wem :tu:

And I'd have to agree, those snook can come out of nowhere , , , , BAM , , , , would have got your attention right away.

Nice to see you and your cousin got a few, and yep "the leaving em biting" makes for more excitment for planning the next trip.

Well done to you both :gj:

Cheers, Bugatti

It's a great pier with deep water ,pitty about the parking fees.Grab some top salted Blue bait from Mario's and you never know what you catch.

Also, does anyone know how much scent you're meant to put on?

Just a thin smear is enough. Don't have to put too much.
The intention is to put a bit of smell to trigger a 'tap' and when they tap they be like smell and taste like food and turn that tap to a full bite.

Or so I was told.

Well done btw
