Stage 3 lockdown

Post by scanny » Sun Aug 02, 2020 5:55 pm

Sad news today about the further lockdown restrictions.

Anyone know what stage 3 in Geelong will mean fishing-wise?

When metro had stage 3, we were able to fish locally. Closest water to home.
If you're questioning it in your head of how far is closest, then you're already wrong. If in doubt, don't.
Because you're risking yourself to have an argument with the police and might end up with $1,652 fine.
And ofc it's not just about the fine, but health and safety too.

That's for me anyway, since I'd rather avoid an argument than risking to go into one. Especially with the police. Cbb to even think about it.

Yeah as far as I know fishing is still allowed outside of Melbourne metro area. I'm not sure how pedantic they'll be about traveling long distances for a fish though. If it's only the closest waterway I'd say the redfin in the Barwon are about to cop a hammering.

Yeah, I'd imagine that they'll keeping an eye on the more popular fishing spots in Geelong & surrounds.

I'm Bellarine way and if I choose to fish it'll 100% be walking the beaches where I'd expect to see no-one. Keep it local and keep the social distancing.

Lucky me my local boat ramp is 2.1 klm away point Richards. I did check the stage 3 restrictions and fishing is still ok not sure if I have to wear a mask all day if I am by myself in the boat.

I think you'd be alright if you're by yourself on the boat, but once you're at the ramp I'd say definitely wear one.
