First bass for the season and on my new BFS reel

Post by Seniorfisho » Sun Dec 04, 2022 7:49 pm

After a couple of attempts over the last couple of weeks without any hook ups, I decided to try some surface fishing with my new BFS reel and I ended up getting hit 4 times, hooked up 3 times but only landed one fish. After not having any luck on the cicadas, I decided to change to a $6 AliExpress Micro tappy and they couldn't get enough of it

The water is still brown but it doesn't make much difference for surface fishing. I bought the Dark wolf ultra as you know and also bought a Lingl which I'm still waiting for. I also am waiting on a rod and looking for second rod. I used a 3-6kg rod on the DWU and it casts cicadas equal to my spin reels. I upgraded the bearings and magnets and it casts amazingly far for the baits I will be using. I would say it's more light baitcasting than ultra light but that's the majority of fishing I do. The reel handled the Bass really well, it was probably about 36cm and really solid. Once I get everything I will put up some picks
