Land based cod in the Shepperton area
hey all,
I know it's not the cod season but I'm getting my gear ready for this season.
my plan is to walk rivers and lakes like the Goulburn and Benalla lake. it will be land-based and I am planning on using my Alvey Orbiter outfit. it is 9 kilos so it will take big and small cod. I have a baitcaster but I am more accurate with my spin one so I will use it. I will be using some hardbodies but I would like to mainly use soft plastics.
does anyone have any suggestions for what soft plastics to use? I find that the zman or squidgy is the best quality.
does anyone have any good spots to fish for cod in the Shepparton/ Benalla, Euroa, violet town area?
what colours are best with the soft plastics? what is the best way to rig them?
this is a good read and it has helped a lot, but I am just wanting your take on it.

Not sure about soft plastics around there but I would park the car and try and find areas that are a bit harder to get to and cast spinnerbaits at every snag you see.

Re: Land based cod in the Shepperton area
so with lake Eilden being drained for the snow melt, 2 of the creeks on my property are running high. they are the honeysuckle and violet ponds creeks. they have been running for about 2 months now and are at least 1/12 meters deep in most parts, and I know where all the snags and deep holes are. would these be holding fish? should I bother with fishing them? also the honeysuckle has been running for more then 2 months.

It depends if they hold fish. If they run off the main rivers they should hold fish. The depth shouldn't be a problem

I think you should put a couple of hundred bass in your dam, they grow really fast and fight like no other

haha, I made a post a few months ago about that, I'm thinking of putting yellas and bass in.to put in 100 fish it will cost 200 so its definitely worth it. i might even get a few cod, but I will put them in enougher dam so they don't eat the yellas and bass. I'm thinking 60-70 bass and 30 yellas, but haven't decided yet. i just realised your a snapper now.

Put the bass and yellas in first, they love each other.. don't put the cod in right away or they will eat everythingfisho999 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 21, 2022 1:48 pmhaha, I made a post a few months ago about that, I'm thinking of putting yellas and bass in.to put in 100 fish it will cost 200 so its definitely worth it. i might even get a few cod, but I will put them in enougher dam so they don't eat the yellas and bass.
