Natives in Melton reservoir

Post by Sebb » Tue Dec 14, 2021 9:18 pm

Went to Melton reservoir on the weekend on the yak. Water was still murky from the rain we had. Fished early morning til about 10am.
Very slow. Fish in the sounder, sometimes it lighted my sounder screen like a Christmas tree, but the didn't want to eat. Could be the water clarity, could be the barometer, who knows.

Jan Juc worms and couple vibes, 2-4 kg rod and 2500 reel.
Caught a 31cm pale yellow belly around 7:30am and 36.5cm bass around 9:30am. Both on Sebile flatt shad vibe.
The yellow belly took it off the bottom on a drop off. Tje bass took the lure on the free fall drop casting to a tree lined bank.

Never measured and recorded in the past but I think this is my PB bass. Not a monster but it's decent.

Years ago I thought to catch big bass was to go to east Gippsland or NSW, and yet, I got my PB within 30min drive from home.

Not bhed, good soize.

The morning was about 12-13° with a decent breeze of cold south wind. Got warmer after sunrise but the south wind got stronger.
The south wind made it colder than actually was.
