Once upon some winter Bass in the west
As the title suggests, I decided to give my local a go right through the winter. I'd heard that it it pretty much shut down during the cold months and nobody bothered much. I caught a Bass and an EP towards the end of May so was hopeful that I'd be able to carry on catching. June was hard and consisted of many doughnuts and no fish. I admit that my resolve was severely tested at times but I persevered. However, July started as June had finished with more fishless days until the 18th when the drought was broken with a new personal best Bass of 40cm. Had another one miss the lure and one that hooked up but came off. Was absolutely stoked for a day or two but another two weeks of nothing brought me down to earth. It was 1st of August when the next good day came with 3 Bass in 40 minutes a 36cm followed by two 38cm models plus three that missed the lure. Felt like February with so much activity. Retuned to the same spot next day and managed another 38 and a 39. Five more doughnuts before another 38 and followed next day in a completely new spot with a 37cm which brings us pretty much up to date. It's been hard going at times but the rewards have made it very worthwhile.
