Lake Nagambie 27/10/2019

Post by Sebb » Sun Oct 27, 2019 10:00 pm

Target species : yellowbelly and redfin
Time fished : 12:30pm-5pm
Weather : 13-18 degrees cloudy, west wind 15kmh and dropping
Barometer : 1017 steady
Moon : 1%
Lure : sebile 30mm vibe, ecogear sx40, Rapala jack deep, Stumpjumper 3.0

Saw a report of some caught yellowbelly on go fish nagambie facebook page, I commented and they said the yellowbelly on fire at the moment and told me to use small slim lure around 50mm.
So my mate and I packed the kayak and fished while wife was at work.

Got there and no time til we got onto redfin action, mostly small though.

Saw a big fat carp on surface while casting. Also saw few fish jumped, maybe carp, didn't really jump like a trout. Threw a small lure in front of it, got ignored.

Was finishing the last hour trolling sx40 and Stumpjumper, caught a nice 27cm redfin.

Visited black caviar statue :)

Oh remember how last time I had my sounder in simulation all day?
This time I thought I didn't charge the battery and the sounder didn't work. Found out that it was on night mode (black background), and since it was couldy and glary i thought it was black screen as black (off). I didn't realise it was actually working til I got home. Another silly mistake on the new sounder.

Aaaaaah, the ol' "when the cat's away, the Seb will play"

A very nice report Seb on what was a great day out with a mate. Seems like that quote from The Castle is so fitting for your day out, "Ah, the serenity".

Love that Yak Rig of yours, I didn't realise that it is peddle power, that I like. Make's sense now about trolling lures. And getting used to new toy like a Sounder, is always fun , , , , and frustrating.

Nice report and lov ya work Seb :tu:

Cheers, Bug

Nice couple of reddies seb, shame you couldn't find the yellas though.
Whats the native like in terms of storage? The big hatch at the front looks pretty precarious to reach while on the water, as does the stuff in the back with the height and size of the seat. Is there space to chuck a tackle tray or two under the seat like a hobie?

cheers

That is the slayer10 propel. Very stable. I can be on my knees and reach the front hatch easily. I tried standing couple times too, steady enough.
Plenty of room at the back, again it's very steady, I can turn without getting off balance. They also sell sorta backpack that can be attached to the back of the seat to store your lures etc.

There is no hatch box like hobie PA but because of the raised seat, there's space under the seat to store tackle boxes. Which I did yesterday. The ability to reverse instantly is a huge bonus. I could reverse straight away an manouver easily, away from trees etc.

This is slayer10 and weighs only 27kg, for more ultimate fishing, the Titan10.5 is the next level. Stable, plenty of space, etc. But much heavier at 42 kg. Have a look at Land Fish Oz on the Titan 10.5 review on YouTube, very helpful and informative. Few YouTube reviews too.

And yes, no yellowbelly :-(

Haha yes and thanks. The foot pedal makes it easier, free hands to cast. Also controlling left right reverse etc, very helpful.

Silly about the sounder to be honest. I was so sure it was out of battery and didn't check the second time. I should've.
Oh well. Had fun with so many hit from red fin. I found the zen.

You picked a great day for it as, Saturday was so sh?t.
Maybe next time, the big yella
You realize that's Dave's stomping grounds, although he doesn't seem to fish the lake much
The big white house ($1.4mill), with infinity pool and overlooking the lake, that's not Dave's
Sorry, going off the topic. Good to get away for the day
Cheers Gra

Haha
Yeah it was last minute decision.
When cod season opens, I'll head around there again and notify Dave.
And yes, I was in Shepparton on the Saturday for mate's kid soccer comp. Weather was terrible.

Nice report and pics Seb! :)
Sounds like you had a nice day with a few nice fish caught as well.
I really like your new setup mate.
Are you going to target some snappers from it over the coming weeks? :)
Cheers :tu:
