What Are You Doing To Get Ready For Cod Season?

hey all,
I would like to know what you guys are doing to get ready for Cod season. what gear, places, lures, times and ways are you going to target Cod this Murray Cod opening?

Nothing.
With all the rain we've been having, it's probably not worth me driving 2+ hrs one way to a cod spot.

yeah, still I'm going to start stocking up on lures. I might be able to fish the river on my property if the water goes down.

Nothing if I get up to the area's they habituate I will venture to Paul Wortlings tackleworld and stock up.

I have been gorging on Gorganzola cheese, maybe I should save some for the cod. Nah, I have so many spinnerbaits, Stump Jumpers, surface baits and other cod related gear that I hardly use now.
I will be chasing some in a few lakes around Horsham over the next few weeks

I was looking on the bcf store today, found this great looking lure that looks like it will go great with the cod, and its pretty cheap

Put some fresh braid on a couple of new outfits earlier this week. Will need a bit of luck with the weather for my cod opening plans to go ahead at this stage though.

That lure is only 76mm. For cod swimbaits I would be looking at 120mm or longer for deeper bodied swimbaits and 140mm of longer for trout profiled swimbaits. That said if you are budget concience and landbased I would avoid swimbaits to start with and stick with topwater, cranks and spinnerbaits. All three styles don't snag as often as swimbaits and tend to be cheaper too
