A recent trip to the Murray

Post by davek » Tue Jul 09, 2019 6:06 pm

After the passing of my father recently

a trip away was needed so along with Brett we headed up the river. We arrived early Friday arvo and quickly threw up a camp,

and cut some fire wood.

It was pretty eerie, no boats sighted on the river all weekend, only one vehicle passed through the bush and no wildlife spotted until we were heading home. As for the fishing nothing was caught until Saturday with a 53cm Trout Cod,

a 56cm carp,

and a cheese bandit, which was thrown back after a pic.

An unsuccessful trip really but chilling out by the fire in the quiet of the bush will make it even more memorable. Thanks for the company Brett.

cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

I still can’t get over how quiet it was, very eerie indeed. Was definitely a well needed getaway for both of us, after the going ons of the last cpl of weeks. Thanks for allowing me to come.

I’ll add some photos and possibly videos, when I get on the pc instead of the iPad.

Hopefully these work.

Makes life easier to understand, when you can get away to areas like this.

Of course we eat pretty well out there in the bush

The cold weather never really got a chance to worry us.

Really, the weather was fantastic and no where near what I thought it would be.
Unfortunately the video of the cray being released doesn't want to link, so I can't add it.

Dave, sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. A good innings and a full life lived - the pic on the riverbank a memory frozen in time.

Sounds like a tough year all round. I recently snuck up to the Murray for a few nights just to enjoy the solitude, watch the river flow and contemplate life. It puts life into perspective and heals.

Best Wishes

Will

Sorry about your old man Davo. It just reiterates how short life is and how you should do the things you love and enjoy every bit of it while you can.

Cheers for the report. Looks like a nice spot and a great setup you got there.
