G'day guys

Going to find myself heading through Ballarat on Sunday, and interested to know where the best land based fishing would be (presuming the weather is ok)

I presume Wendouree in town is the best bet, but what about some of the small reservoirs in neighboring towns? Are they suited to land based,an d if so which would you suggest is the best?

Cheers

Wendouree gives you a good chance of getting some nice trout and reddies but the fishing tends to be slow during the day and lots of weed/shallow areas makes it difficult to fish land based.

Lake Esmond has trout but they're pretty hard to catch unless they've just been stocked. There are also reddies in there but mostly small.

Burrumbeet holds lots of big carp and nice reddies are starting to be caught more frequently.

Pykes Creek holds trout, reddies and carp but they usually only come on the bite at dawn or dusk.

Bostock holds good trout and reddies, but you don't hear too many reports from there.

The lakes/reservoirs in Creswick mostly hold redfin and most likely trout.

Newlyn has been very quiet lately but when it is producing fish they are good sized trout and reddies.

Hepburn usually rewards persistent anglers with good trout.

Good luck. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. :)

Thanks for your help guys - appreciate the quick and detailed feedback.

Hopefully wherever I go turns it on, as it's been far too long since I've caught in freshwater!

Cheers
