Pinky fishing

Post by re-tyred » Thu Aug 04, 2022 6:31 pm

Nice day here in Lakes Entrance today. No wind max of 20c. Headed out at 9am to see what we could find. Straight out the front to the 4 mile. Found a nice lump and in they went. Soon had a bulleye gurnard. Phtt. Then a Sgt Baker. 10 minutes and moved a bit. Then the familiar knock knock of a pinky. Up came a 32cm fish. After 2 hour we had 10 between the two of us. It started the rain a bit. Figured that was a nice feed so went home for lunch. Gotta be happy with that for August.

There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.

Did a run out to the western end 4 mile today. Left home at 7am. Fishing by half past. Drifted for a while and found a spot that produced a cpl of pinkies, so anchored up with a reef anchor ⚓. Constant bites hard to keep a bait on. Persistence paid after 4 hrs of fishing, I had 8 pinkies a cracking Mowong , a pike and 3 leather jackets. Only problem I had was I couldn't get my anchor back. Tugged on it drove in reverse but nothing would get it back out of the rocks. Gave up cut it off and went home.
