Thanks for sharing mate!

Does the wind direction and speed etc. make a difference for prawning?

Ok a seperate note, if you are surf fishing down at lakes entrance, you would want north winds?

North northwest.
My biggest salmon and tailor caught was from Eastern Beach. Was in winter though.

The less wind the better prawning.
Salmon fishing you want northwesterly and calm sea.
There has been salmon in the lake around Kalimna jetty. They are generally smaller in the lake
You have a chance for a kingfish around the highway bridge and the footbridge at this time of year

Hey there

Fyi - best time to go is new moon (not full moon). Ideally after moonset. Warm nights (ie: not cold days when wind coming from south) makes it a better proposition.

Haven't been prawning at the lakes in the last few years, but i have tried some of retyred's yellow lines places about 4 years ago and you can find prawns there.

I also find that you have to go deeper to get the bigger prawns.

Hope this helps.

Let us know how you go and all the best. :wt: :-D

If you mean how I went with the prawning, terrible hahhh.

Don’t get me wrong I am happier then ever as I got a few prawns so I accomplished what I set out to do. But they were bait size.

The prawns aren’t in yet, even the trollers are saying there aren’t any prawns for them to catch. the one boat selling prawns were alright but the size were not as big as what they would normally be their.

I was just out walking the beach in front of the esplanade resort. Bucket loads of crabs, but seemed a bit small in my opinion. The holes in prawn net I was using from anaconda were too big for the prawns I was catching. It was dumb luck that I had this other throw around net with me which worked out perfectly for me.

Is this your first time going for prawn?
