Octopus Hot Spots in Gippsland
Hi team! We're heading up to Lakes Entrance this Christmas and were hoping to catch some octopus during our stay. I was wondering if anyone knew of any hotspots in the area (anywhere in the Gippsland area, doesn't have to be in Lakes Entrance)? Preferably just off the coast where we can walk/swim up to the area as we will be spearfishing. Thank you!

Hey Aydin, have rarely heard of either occy's or squiddly diddlies in the lakes at all. On the odd occasion there have been some quid for a short period but I have mothballed my squid jigs til I go elsewhere.

Try Lake Tyers at night in the shallows. There used to be quite a few there when prawning. Tyers is open and they may have come in. You might get a bycatch of flounder. Plenty of shallow area in front of the waterwheel tavern.
There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.
