Winter Bream

Since the fishing ban was lifted the winter fishing in East Gippsland has been very, very good.

I've been fishing the Snowy and the estuary at Marlo a lot recently and there's plenty of fish in the system and on the surf beaches.

A session this afternoon didn't dissapoint. A nice catch of Bream, the best one coming in at 41cm on the mat. Throw in a few small luderick and silver trevalley for a bit of variety.

Those of you who know Marlo will be able to work out where I was fishing today. ;-)

That is a horse, in great condition, was it lure caught or bait. I,m giving the Paynesville /Eagle Point area a try tomorrow, I,ll be testing Hurricane Spider Crab in motor oil colour

That water looks nice and clean, after all the fires and extra runoff, great to see.

We had some anxious moments but all was well. Had to spend one night hosing down the house as we were under ember attack but a wind change about 4 a.m. turned a really big fire away from us.

A lot of the bush tracks are still closed and there's still a lot of work to do with damage to property etc.

Believe it or not, there are still fires burning in some remote areas (but under control).
Even as recently as last Friday three new fires started in the coastal scrub out the back of Corringle, not far from the Patricia Balleen gas plant.

You can't beat a good sandworm. Bit of a drive around to there from Marlo, but worth it
