Been looking on dpi website and saw Garfield Lake in Garfield Victoria.
Says that's its a family fishing lake that gets stocked.
I've tried searching everywhere on the net for this lake
Wondering if anyone knows if it exists?

Cheers Doc

Sure is, I've lived around the area for ages and it even took me ages to find it. Most locals in Garfield don't even know it's there !

Anyway, if you go into Garfield near the main shops ( its a tiny town ), you will see signs for the local football field and pools. The lake is actualy over a hill behind the football field. You need to go into the football grounds to access the lake.

I've caught plenty of stocked rainbow trout here on spinners mainly, orange/or red and gold being the best.
Ive seen plenty of goldfish/carp and turtles in here too, but never hooked any even using bait.
google earth co-ordinates are :

38° 5'47.88"S
145°40'37.96"E

Happy fishing.

Just an update on the lake, I popped in for a fish this arvo and found the lake half empty ! .
While the football field is looking all lush using the water supply from the lake, the lake is suffering.
Not a bite / nibble / DONUT.
On adverage this lake is around 50 meters wide by 100 meters long. The water level has droped about 1 meter !.
Evaporation causing some of it too, but on adverage if im correct ?,;
droping 1meter in depth over a 100mx50m span, and at 1000 litres per cubic meter, means the lake has droped a whopping 5,000,000 litres of water  , and it's noticable too . Have i got my calculations right ? .Cheers ,Rick.

The lake is a tad over the size i said ( i under compensated the size roughly to make up for the 45degree lake walls ), and the water was also just 'under' 1m low, all that rounded i rounded it to the above. Thanks for backing up my math ( been a while ) , it just seemed like a massive amount of water to be consumed in just 1 month roughly !.
I hope they do something about it soon , as this realy was a good trout fishing lake , until now :( , cheers mate.

Hi Rick sorry been bloody ages since i been on here
I ended up finding it but thankyou for the info! have fished there a few times.
had one take on a lure but missed setting it.
went down a week later to see what looked something like a macquarie perch (wasnt a redfin) swimming 10mm under the surface of the water in the direct sunlight (was about 30degree day).
it was cruising very slowly and looked very sick.
I really hope the lake picks up this season and DPI do something about it!
Cheers Doc

Garfield  is our hero, that's why they named the lake after him.

Team m&s
a bit geographically challenged.

Not so much a 'lake' as it is a 'dam'. Appears to contain Eels...
