Blairgowrie 15/02

Post by AE092 » Mon Feb 17, 2020 9:26 am

Ventured down to BG on Saturday arriving just shy of 6am. Forecast was for constant rain, high humidity and reasonably strong S/SW winds blowing around 15-20 knots which is the 'correct' direction if you're casting towards the city (non marina side).

Rigged up the Emeraldas rod with a Yamashita 3.0 purple (forgot the model number) and within 10 mins landed the first with another 5 caught in quick succession. As the sun rose the bite window slowed but did see a couple caught by others. A few moves netted two more before having to leave around 8:15am. The previous 2-3 sessions around the same time have netted 3-5 Calamari each trip but having to 'work' (whip) the jig to get them to take.

Hanging for Salmon season to come 'round now!

What a great session! Always incredible seeing nice squid landed land based in weather sometimes described as undesirable.
It's been slow land-based squid fishing north on the eastern edge of the Bellarine and it's refreshing to see they're around.
Hopefully they decide to holiday down this way the next few days.

The strong north/east winds pushed pinkies and salmon into our piers over the past few days, hopefully they end up down your way.

There was one noticeably smaller one, the rest gets eaten; hood and tentacle (best parts) and head discarded.
