Blairgowrie 26/1

Hi all

Went down to Blairgowrie pier over the long weekend. The pier was packed and I couldn't get a nice spot so I had to compromise and have some fun sight catching the reef fish under the pier on small bits of squid. Landed a few leatherjackets and wrasse and it was a treat watching them feed in the shallow water.

Also saw a school of micro squid <5cm long swimming on the surface which was pretty cool. Tried to film them but they all swam away when the GoPro went in. I did get some nice footage of the local ray as it swam under the camera.

The water looks pretty clear.
Imagine if that ray decided to have a taste of your GoPro, lol.

That's actually why the camera moved just before the ray came because I freaked out and was scared it would eat it!

No red mullet caught unfortunately. I see them alot but they don't always feed. Took one half decent leather jacket guessing around 25cm for a feed but the others were all too small.

Small bits of squid on a paternoster rig dropped straight down off the jetty. Small bead sinker.

I was there also on Sunday and Monday morning, pretty busy but managed 1 (squid) on Sunday and 3 on Monday - Monday was more productive with a few being caught around the middle section.

Noice! What's that pseudo-nostalgic soundtrack?
