Rye

Post by Robbie1950 » Tue Dec 24, 2019 6:40 am

Morning Lads....

Like half of Melbourne I'm heading to Rye for the Christmas break with my family, also coming along is my boat.

I haven't fished Rye since I was a pup. I know that there is generally an abundance of squid around and I have also heard of gummies around mud island but was hoping someone could tell me if there is any ting or snapper around this time of year? If so, if they would be kind enough to point me in the 'right direction'. I'm not asking for marks just a rough area of where these fish may lay.

Any help is greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance! :ch:

whiting live in the sea grass off the end of the jetty you can catch whiting but I'm only land-based so don't know about boats

If you're willing to travel a little - head to the grass beds towards Sorrento. But plenty of whiting in the grass beds in that area ~ you'll just need to do a bit of searching.

Not sure about Snapper at this time of year though.
