20lb braid and 20lb leader is a very good size for squid.

If you are fishing in very clear water going to thinner leader seems to increase catch rate. I often run 8lb around mornington for example.

Personally I’d be running the 20lb mono over the 30lb fluro. Especially if casting distance is a factor.

Your weakest link here is the 10lb braid, not the 20lb or 30lb leader.
The braid will break first if your snagged and you try to pull the jig out.

To be honest, I would find a better place to fish. I doubt you will be able to pull and jig out of rocks and kelp. Save your money and just use straight 20lb mono, we are talking about squid here, as I said before, you can catch them on a broomstick with rope tied to the end

Hey guys, going for some rock squidding and in the area people generally recommend 20lb Fluro to minimise the chance to lose jigs. I only have 30lb Flyuro or 20lb mono. Which one would you use? The main question is: is there much difference using mono or fluro when targeting squids?
Yes i fish for squid brighton to mordy some places you need more distance in your cast other place,s not so much my set up now is 12lb tasline braid with 16lb fc fluro rock leader this setup work,s well if you only use mono you cant get much distance so it limit,s your chance,s landbased if your got a boat distance doesnt matter
