Great report mate! Just wondering what you think of the arrow squid in terms of edibility? I’ve found that the tentacles are chewy but the tube is very soft, just wondering if you’ve found the same. I know they fight very hard compared to the calamari and are very aggressive once on board.
i havent noticed anything too different tbh, but thats mainly because of it all being mixed up with each other, so i didnt know which one was what. next time ill make sure to try them separately.
yeah they are very aggresive and can bite if your not careful handling them.
The old behind the head calamari grasp doesn't work for long. The pain is horrendous for 5 minutes, and the blood, God the blood that comes out of your hand makes you question the need for ED and a transfusion
i never touch an arrow squid for exactly all those reasons. ive been warned by many and thats good enough for me.
i dont even want to think about the monstrous offshore models!!
the way they cling onto things and try and climb it is spooky enough.

Kingfish Candy.
yeah, plenty out there for everyone.
Do you ever just whack one out a couple of metres under a float while you're squidding?

They swim around from Sorrento to at least Mt Eliza, and we know they appear at Docklands. There was a video from 3-4 years ago of a school of metre long kings cruising in a metre of water in Mornington Bay (or whatever it's called..Tanti?).
Might be worth considering, it takes 2 minutes to setup and costs practically nothing.

When was this I haven’t heard of a landbased session where people have bagged out since before covid

Yes before covid, late evening. Was quiet at the start and they got mental when the sun was down.
