After viewing heaps of U tube vids its clear that squid grab the jigs by the side.
I dont pull the jig up and down I use a float and the waves do the movement-so i can use 2 at a time
Ive talked to some local fishos at Queenscliff and they have the same problem of the Krakens not hooking up saying the barbs are too small. So they use the large barbed ones that use bait attached
Purchased the large barbs from a Fishing Tacke shop in the USA -Colmans Fishing Supply-29903 43rd ave S Auburn WA 98001
The wire prong ones on ebay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Saltwater-F ... 2749.l2649

Yeah Jarvis Walker still do them. They snag weed like there’s no tomorrow and the action probably isn’t great compared to better brands but you probably have a better chance of hooking one if they’re being tentative.
