Mornington boat hire 9/1/2022

Post by Sebb » Mon Jan 10, 2022 4:17 pm

Short notice decision. Me, mrs and mates decided to hire a boat off Mornington boat hire. They're not really into fishing but the 10yo kid always keen on fishing.

Fished 1-4pm, overcast becoming sunny. South wind low to moderate.

The sounder didn't work for some reason, so was just randomly picked a spot around sunnyside beach.

Caught couple flatties 27 and 30cm. Couple puffer fish. On pipis with paternoster rig.
Sky became clear blue and moved to more obvious weedy spot, caught around 7-8 squid. Took the biggest 4. All on 2.5 red egixile jig.
They turned them into crumbed calamari rings cooked in an air fryer.

This was Sunday after I dropped the cart. My mates were keen on the boating, but not so much fishing.

Usually some nice white pointers and bearded clams around Sunnyside this time of the year.

I have a feeling you're not talking about sharks and clams.

🤔
