I’ve been down Mornington pier the last three days
New Year’s Eve
Time:10am-3:30
Results I got three squid and two whiting the whiting where on fresh squid and the squid where on a 3.0 white with red head black magic jig all squid where good size and the whiting where 30 and 35cms I had to leave at 3:30 but the whiting where just coming on the bite when I left my mates got 12 in total between 3:30 and 5

New Year’s Day
Time: 6:30-10pm
Results: I got one more squid on the white with red head 3.0 people all around me where catching snotty trevally I just couldn’t get one only 1 undersize whiting and overall it was really slow

Yesterday
Time: 12:30-3pm
Results: donuts absolutely nothing my mate got 3 squid and that was it not much being caught at all

There's still a few yakkas and tommy roughs around, good fun on light gear but not easy to catch. Go really light, unweighted with tiny hooks. I think I talked to you on new years day.

You need to stay away from those underwater green lights that everyone is using there, I don't know why people use them.

Probably for squid, they are attracted to light.

Those are longfin pike. You can catch them at the edge of the light, run a metal slug or SP, let out about 10cm of line from your rod tip, and stick the whole rod into the water and wave it around doing figure 8s.

The yakkas really really hate the green light. They completely stopped biting when the guy next to me turned on his light. Moved spots away from the light and started catching again straight away. It's strange, those guys with the green lights are still targeting yakkas, not squid.

It’s said to attract squid and smaller fish there isn’t really many prawns in port Phillip bay I don’t really know it’s probably best to ask someone that uses them
