Re: mornington pier
I was there at sunset till 9. Saw a few good flatties and heaps of undersize pinkies, and got a few calamari but it was pretty slow.
Also caught the weirdest living thing in my life, a baby bat. He somehow got tangled up in my line. I thought it was just weed until he gave me a bit of a nibble.

Mate I would be going to a doctor and getting checked out. Even though it was a baby any exposure to a bat can be serious.eddyt wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 1:51 pmI was there at sunset till 9. Saw a few good flatties and heaps of undersize pinkies, and got a few calamari but it was pretty slow.

Re: mornington pier
I didn't know you got those kinds of bats around port phillip, the only bats I ever see are flying foxes which are around heaps during summer nights near my house. On a serious note though Boonanza is right, bats can carry ABLV which is an very serious disease and has killed people in Australia, If you can, wash the area it bit you and apply an anti-septic until you can see your doctor.

Re: mornington pier
eddyt, look at that, this Forum working well, giving you timely advice.
Well done guys
Now, eddy, this may be a long shot but , , , , I know a guy, who knows a guy, who knows a guy, who knows Peter Parker. You may have heard, he got bitten by a Spider and he became Spiderman
So, when you go to the Doctor's and he gives you the all clear, see if you now have Superhero Abilities
Now, if you do, you can't be Batman, that's been done already , , , , but maybe Batboy
Now I know The Bug
and even though Bats aren't Bugs, I have asked The Bug to reserve a spot for you on the Bugvengers
Cheers, Bugatti

Re: mornington pier
Don't worry too much, in future it's just best not to handle bats because of their tendency to bite. If the bat was infected, which would be pretty rare, you'd get the vaccine from your doc and be on your way. Symptoms don't start occurring for weeks to months so if you catch it this early you'd be fine

Re: mornington pier
Was there as well from about 3:30-7PM - plenty of pinkies and flatties, kept 1 of each.
I reckon the landbased fishing will start to pick up in a few weeks once the water warms up.
