Re: down patto
for whiting head down to anthonys nose around dromana area, its an easy access whiting landbased spot.
patto has bream, mullet and salmon hanging around most times. i wouldn't waste my time trying for whiting there.

Re: down patto
I have caught small whiting in Patto when fishing for mullet in winter, and small whiting off Seaford pier in summer up to 23cm but can’t confidently target them unfortunately, earlier on in the year I caught a 40cm whiting off Black Rock pier but it’s pretty hard to get a good spot there. The further down the peninsula you go the better chances you will have.

Re: down patto
Good for the estuary but a bit light if you're going to be fishing the beaches chasing that whiting (and snapper - you can't avoid the pinkies anyway). It'll be nothing but frustration when they head towards any rock/reef. Banjos might bust you off too.
I use 20lb+ for the pier/beach
