Post by Sebb » Sat Dec 21, 2019 11:17 am

Time : 5:30am-9am
Weather : 20 degrees overcast
Barometer : 1013 and increasing
Tide : high tide 10:22am
Moon : waning crescent 25% full
Wind : 30-40kmh south west
Bait : pilchard, bluebait, chicken, squid.
Lure : zman slim swimz, gulp nemesis and shad nuclear chicken
Results : pinkies pinkies pinkies and more pinkies. All undersized.

Between 5:30am and 7am, the bait couldn't even stay for longer than 10 seconds. Even with big bait and big hook. Tap tap tap tap tap and gone in less than 10 seconds.

Caught one decent flathead on the gulp shad. A mate caught one small flathead. Otherwise, pinkies! pinkies! pinkies! aaaaand more pinkies! Graagghh!
Ran out of bait and packed up.

Now that's a report with the lot! Nice flatty Seb. Those micro pinkies are everywhere and a real pain in the butt right now, but they're a great sign for snapper seasons in years to come.

Thanks.
Yup. Few more years and those 10-15cm pinkies will become legal sized.

What is the growth rate of snapper in the bay?

Around 4-5 years to reach legal size.
Here's a good quick read.

Not a bad flattie on a plastic Seb.
I remember years ago when I used to fish early morning there would always get smashed by those undersize pinkies. Millions of them. Looks like nothing’s changed.
