Wind was predicted 15kmh north but was blowing 30kmh.
Mercury was at 18 dropping to 13 real quick after the sun gone in the horizon.

Gave up chasing pinkie since the kayak was drifting too fast, hands were busy paddling than casting.
Luckily saw a flock of seagull in the hundreds!
Arms were sore from paddling but got to the spot like any man running busting to toilet!

Hooked 5-6 salmon in 30 mins, they're 1 kg and 43cm in size. Took two home.

I stopped fishing not because it was dark or windy or the they stopped biting, I stopped fishing because I was tired. LoL. Shoulders, arms and wrists were sore as.

Time fished : 4:30pm-6pm
Fish caught : 5:30pm-6pm
Weather : 18 degrees sunny dropping to 13
Moon : 41%
High tide : 9:40pm
Barometer : 1019 and dropping slightly
Gear : Daiwa wilderness 17lb rod, Shimano aernos 3000 15lb strikepro braid line, 16lb icon fluorocarbon leader

I took more photos but mostly blurry, so hard to take photos on mobile phone on a yak with one hand during windy day and choppy water.
Good on ya mate
There beautys

Just a question Seb, you talk about photos on the Kayak, as others do too. What do you do to protect the phone from the elements (mainly the H2O) and the hopefully unlikely event that it may go in the drink?

Cheers, Buglazy :-D

They make water proof phones these days Bug.
Failing that you can get a waterproof case.
Failing that you can get a waterproof phone.
Currently I have a water resistant mobile phone (not waterproof). Before that, I put my phone in waterproof plano container (I still have it) and only take the phone out when needed. Now I just use sandwich seal bag and put it in the PFD's pocket. Cheaper alternative to plano container.

And yes, there's few waterproof mobile phone nowadays.

Good to see you finally got into them.
Next time take the silly string gear and take a small break while they tow you around .
If you taking them for a feed bleed them straight away after catching. It makes a big difference in the end product.

Well done Seb! You did better than me mate.
A couple of beauties there! Very nice.
Now you got the salmons that you wanted :)
Cheers
Yes! And they're not the average bay salmon, 1kg 43cm is a good size and fun to catch. I forgot how hard they fight.
Left right jump bbzzzzzttt... Lucky I had the 8-17lb rod.
Would've been hella of a fight on the rod 2-4kg with 8lb line. Lol.
I caught a few but decided to take only two home, released the rest.
Got onto a big school of them a few weeks ago, it was awesome fun, they go hard as. Well done man

Would have been a lot of fun Seb! Great report pal.
I don't mind them fresh, not much different to snapper. If bled straight away, filleted, skinned, and blood line removed, they cook up quite well I reckon. Many folks discard them as bait as they claim they are crap, but I put that perception down to a bad experience due to "poor preparation for the table". But, each to their own...

Moon 41%.PNG

I'm with Red, I too reckon Salmon are as good as any fish to eat AND it is all in the prep, as with anything really. Mate Don does a Salmon Mornay that is awesome.

But I think Seb has it covered, with his cooking, Seb could make old boots taste great

Well done seb good effort my only suggestion is invest in Nav lights and a 360 degree light if your fishing within an hour of the evening.
