Anyone know if the areas around port melbourne(such as st kilda and kerferd road pier)are fishing well for salmon or flatties? I went for a couple of hours on sunday a bit further down around elwood but no bites
Mostly flathead in shallows during warmer months.
Salmon can be anywhere, they're very mobile. You just gotta try.
thanks! i saw a school but they were not taking my metal lure
Try smaller metal or plastic. The baitfish they're chasing probably small and you need to match the hatch.

Squidgy flickbait always work for me.

No worries mate! :)
Happy to help. I also find a 1/8th jig head or 1/6th depending on the wind and weather does the job. Good luck!
Cheers
