Went to Port Melb after work while waiting for mrs to finish hers.

5-6pm, moon was still full round and huge, not the full 100% super blood moon like yesterday but was still pretty cool to see it peaking behind a cloud above Spirit of Tassie.

2-4kg rod, 2500 spin reel with 10lb braid and 2m 10lb fluorocarbon leader. 1/8 jig head and zman slim swimz bad shad.

Caught a small salmon on 2nd cast, picked the plastic off the bottom, caught 27cm pinkie the next cast, then dead quiet.

Talked to two nice men from Doncaster that caught a small pinkie and a 32cm pinkie on pilchard. Had a good talk and laugh. I reckon the only times I met strangers and had good laughs/talks were always when I went fishing.

Nice way to spend a short but fun session while waiting for your Mrs mate.
Watch out for the big pike that hang out there around this time of the year.
Cheers 👍🏻

Nice work as always sebb. Can I ask if it's common to get sambos after dark? I've never really targeted them, but wanted to start flicking lures for them around there when things open up.

Hey bong, I’ve caught heaps of sambos and from my experience you can catch them any time of the day. I’ve had nights down at port melb pier casting soft plastics well after dark and smashing them every cast. With baits as well. Hope that helps mate.

Like what LX said, day and time. When they're around and hungry, they'll bite.
I fish mostly sunrise sunset and some day time. I think sunrise sunset are still the best. But then again, if they're smashing bait fish during mid day or after dark, you can catch them too. They're very mobile too, you never know! That's the fun of it.
