Gronks would still pillage the smaller pinkies even if they did increase the size limit. They're easy to catch and judging by the number of times you see some plonker on social media posing in front of a bunch of tiny fish they've kept it must be keeping them happy.

No as the release survival rate is low due to barotrauma. Best to keep some to eat then move on rather than continue to catch and release.
huh? i was fishing in 4-5m, there isnt much BT there.

Side note, what depth does BT start????
15-20m or so I thought, with bigger fish apparently being more sensitive to it.

In WA if you're bottom fishing in anything deeper than that you need to have a release weight on board to quickly return fish to depth and improve the survival rate.

Ive talked to fisheries managers at Queenscliff on sizes
They are happy with the sizes now -Its up to the individual
If you take kids out in the boat they want to catch a fish any fish,Take it home and show mum
I keep some pinkies at 28 to give to Fisheries so they can do research on them and to train others

I feel as long as the size & bag limit is sustainable to population, we're sweet.
We're not wrong saying that some legal fish have little meat on them, but that's up to the individual.
It would be interesting to see if there is any research towards what the effects on the Vic population would be if size/bag limits were altered, potentially increasing the size could have no significant difference? Who knows!
Great session mate!

Went back again and kept 3

Annoying to see boats rock up as soon as they see you catching fish.
and then feels amazing to see them donuting with their baito ways, while they are chewing their heads off on plastics a few 100m from them, in a new area I had to forcefully move to.

Only to be annoyed again when they move closer.

lol
