this weekend

Post by 4liters » Sun May 29, 2022 8:22 pm

Here's some pics from this weekend in no particular order

Friday - Wurdi, cast spoons and HBs around and caught a trout. Lovely evening but probably a bit too calm.
Saturday - Kirks Point, paddled down to Arthur the Great and looked for some squid in close, didn't find any so started drifting for flatties in 7m. Wasn't catching much so headed back up to Long Reef and continued to not catch much. Ended up with 8 or so decent ones and an undersize gummy.
Sunday - Avalon, place was dead and I had to check I hadn't ****** up my days and gone fishing on a Monday. Got some squid in close but no sign of whiting near Bird Rock.

Dunno if everyone was offshore chasing tuna or something but it was very quiet on the bay for such nice conditions.

As long as you got out there catching fish is a bonus

Seems like it was a quiet weekend on the bay. Haven't heard good catches/reports anywhere else too.
Well, you got something at least. Good stuff.

We might have bumped into each other, one bloke I saw mentioned he’d lost a decent fish.

That 2nd squid looks a good size. I haven’t fished avalon for a while, will have to head back there. I’ve tried for whiting there, but never had much luck. But that will be my own doing.

Yeah one of the squid was a unit. Most of them were a decent size with only one small one.

Bird Rock is supposed to be a good whiting spot but I've never done any good there in several attempts. I did get one ages ago out of a sand hole fishing land based from Pt Lillias so they're around.
