PB bream!

Today I fished a local creek, I feel a bit miserly not mentioning it’s name, however it is a very small waterway and I would rather not take the risk of it potentially being exploited. The methods used were an earthworm on a running sinker, and raw chicken on a paternoster. The first fish caught was a bream of 35cm, I was really pleased to see the condition of the fish, very plump and silver and no fin tears. It took about another half an hour until I got another bite, which started off as a very subtle nudge of the bait, so I opened up the bail-arm and free lined it trying to keep contact. Suddenly, the line took off, I clicked the bail and struck; the drag erupted into action. It was quite a rugged fight, prolonged by the current. But after a couple of minutes the fish came to the surface, the lack of a landing net didn’t help but I eventually managed to scoop the fish into the kayak. I measured it and it was a touch over 40cm, my personal best! I was extremely pleased and yet again the fish was in perfect nick, luckily a very friendly local who’s home backed onto the creek came and took a photo before the fish was released. So to conclude it was a very successful session, and I’m so glad to be fishing again.

And Bud, take it from Bug , , , , don't feel miserly about not mentioning the GPS Co-Ords, or the name of the Creek, or any specific details of the location. You even gave too much away , , , , I'm going to be looking for those 17 blades of grass in the background :-D

You have done well, great fish , , , , and remember, let us know about your fishing adventures (love to hear them) AND keep your spots to yourself :tu:

Cheers, Bugs

Damn good report, Irish
40cm is a good bream, especially in a Melbourne creek.
What bait worked best ????
My daughter has brought a house near Kannanook creek, so I'm interested (Seafood)
Congrats on your personal best
Cheers Gra

Forgot to mention, both bream were taken on worm, and I caught a few mullet on raw chicken.

Well done Irish cracker fish. Caught a bream the other day as by-catch targeting EPS no where near the class of yours yet I have forgotten how hard they fight.

Nice! Gotta be happy with 40cm+ bream.
Nice trick opening the bail arm too, bream can be a bit picky to take the bait.
