Bream with messed up scales

Post by mazman » Fri Jan 24, 2020 1:16 pm

A quick run to patto on a mates project boat and after struggling a bit with positioning etc. with the boat we started to get a chance to get some casts in. Wasn't fishing for long before I got this fella on board, has anyone seen beam with scales like this before? I'm assuming it's from damage when it was smaller but if anyone has any other ideas I would like to hear them.

and if you think the scales are a bit weird check out the fight, never had a bream take a lure in that way and still not certain how I managed to get it out on 4lb.

Apologies it redirects to facebook I've spent a while trying to embed the video but from what I can gather you can only embed in html code directly to websites rather than onto forums and the likes from facebook.

I don't have the slightest clue but it looks grouse, especially the gill plate. You were lucky to get him out from under that dock that's for sure.

Looks to me like someones had a go at scaling him and hes slipped away, or he’s managed to get out of the scaler bag when he was young(er).

Pure guess, what would I know. Could just be a mutant ( with laser eyes)

Was it just on one side of the fish or symmetrical? It could be similar to how we get mirror carp? Or it's an offspring of a mirror carp cross breed. Looks amazing, thanks for sharing.

Usually damage from birds/fish/nets/habitat when younger causes it. Bloody big pattern change on it

Scales on the other side were in perfect condition which is why I thought it must have been caused by damage at a younger age, super cool looking fish and makes me glad I went to the effort to land it

havent watched this vide yet, but im constantly amazed at how you manage to get fish out of spots in Patto. I dont like loosing $25 worth of lure at a time, so im a bit more conservative...probably why i only have a few out of patto. Got a 40cm from there, so im happy lol

Isn't there a water treatment plant above Patto?
