Give it some time mate, its taken me years to get solid fish like this on most trips, once you get into a few you will start to work them out a bit better, as always time on the water is the most important.
if your local isnt producing then try somewhere where the fish arent as pressured and more willing to eat a lure(unless your aim is to catch from the local ofcourse), sometimes this means long ass drives. i never ventured far when i started fishing, but it all changed eventually and now i travel if it means i will have half a chance..

Yeah makes sense. I know metro bream are hard to catch on lures, but it's so easy to go and have a flick. I need to venture out to find 'easier' bream to fool to boost my confidence.
