Black rock boat ramp

Post by Buckle&scream » Tue Apr 26, 2016 2:25 pm

Launched at black rock on the weekend, what a crap platform they made for the ramp, it's very high you can't even get in to it from your boat and there's only 2 landers it's the stupidest ramp platform I've seen, dont understand why they built it so high, older and short folks are gonna struggle with that ramp no dought!

That area is pretty hard to launch from as well if its low tide.
the old ramp was worse, this is a bit better for sure. but yeah its quite high, they need to put in more ladders i think.

Sounds like you won't be launching from there anymore in the future and driving over from Altona?

Nah I'll still launch there If I got no other choise it's just a **** ramp! but definitely not during snapper season that would be a joke, I've been launching my boat there for almost 12 years now the last ramp was good until the big storm we had destroyed it. I'm coming from point cook not Altona, my local ramp is Werribee south.

Please correct me if I am wrong as I haven't used the current jetti but I have used the previous one.

The previous jetti was great the new one I have dropped in looked to be the same except extending further back and having a slight kink to provide more room. The height of the old jetti was perfect and the new one looked perfect as well.

Yes you need to use a ladder but the same goes for every jetti where there is a tidal range.

Nah this ones much high then The last one.
It was interesting when we came back in thinking how we gonna get out lol had to jump up or wait for the ladder. I'm 6ft 2" and I had to jump up on to the platform. Couple older blokes there were really struggling telling me what a joke it was as well.

I'll just have to cut across the bay when weather permits..

This is the old ramp before the storm.
launch at the new ramp sometime and you will notice the big difference.

Your right the new one is higher.

Either way you are supposed to use the ladder, if it needs more ladders that can easily be fixed.

The new jetti is still low compared with Welspool, and other locations with much greater tidal ranges.

Why do you come over from altona and use the ramp in blackrock, theres so many ramps near you? im just curious considering theres a bit of driving time involved etc etc.
was worse when they were doing the ramp up and we had to use the smaller one on the side
ps - stick to your side will ya, and leave blackrock for me to enjoy
