Brighton pier 13/1 - nomad squidtrex

headed out around 1pm, was a bit cloudy and rainy.
i've been attempting to get into lure fishing for the past 1.5 years with little success (about 3 fish over that time), and the idea of soft vibes appealed to me since they got the vibration of crank lures that are pretty addicting.
so came with a few boxes of the nomad squidtrex 55 (5 grams) and 65 (8 grams) and a 8'6 ultralight rod with a cast weight of 2-12g.
started with just some slow lift and drop retrieves really close to shore on the right side and within my first 3 casts, bang, got my first hit. pulled up a small pinkie, despite the size, the fight on UL was still very fun. after 10 minutes, i started casting towards the bath size and after another 3 casts of slow lifts and drops got a much bigger fish. It put up a much better fight, and felt like a fish twice its size from fishing with bait rods. another hour goes by before i catch anything ,just run and gunning up and down the pier with slow lift and drops. and i say to myself "ok, 1 more cast and we're going home". casting where i caught my initial fish, i gave a huge cast and on the drop, fish on, another pinkie. "ok, another final cast" and another fish on. "ok, another final cast" my lure got snagged and i lost it lol.
was a fun session, all pinkies except 1 were undersized so all released, all in all, really enjoying the lure. Consistently gets a good side hook in the mouth and excited to do more casting where squid roam.
