21/1/2019 report

Post by Lightningx » Tue Jan 22, 2019 12:21 pm

Well its been awhile since I have put up a report so decided to write one :)

Talking to the missus we decided we wanted a feed of flatties, something we haven't done in awhile, so yesterday we gave it a go.

Weather was nice, and with a few places I have done well in the past, I headed to my first location.

I started a drift and it really didn't take long at all before the first one came on board.

While drifting with baits, I decided to rig up 1 rod with a plastic and give that a go as well. I actually enjoy and prefer catching them this way rather than with bait.

I managed a few but the majority were caught with bait.

We were using whiting snatcher flasher rigs with the gold tinsel, 1/0 circle hooks and blue bait and white bait as bait.

Water depth was shallow between 4-6 metres. Most of the fish caught were in the mid to high 30s range

Was a fun few hours on the water.

Cheers

LX.

Excellent mate. Great feed there. Years since I fished in the bay. Ever used jigging grubs? Often wondered how they'd go there. All my best fish in the fresh, I fish for trout and reddies, have in the last several years been on plastics since I switched to using them predominantly. Have a relo in Melb who I gave some to who has a boat and bay fishes. Saw him after about 10 mths and asked how they went. Unbelievable, his reply was "nah, I use bait". Hadn't even dropped one in all that time. Idiot. :-D
Anyway, great catch mate. Enjoy eating em.
