Breakwall vs Pier fishing (at Brighton & Sandy)

G'day guys,
I've been doing research on saltwater fishing lately (not that I'm new but haven't fished for so long). From your fishing experience will piers be better fishing spots than breakwalls? Or it's all depend on specific location?

I never had much luck from local piers. Land based at Sandy and plenty of hidden little spots in Bayside. Google earth it and go. Even from the sand amongst the reef in spots can be promising I reckon. I will be exploring there more.

All good idea guys. That's what I have in mind too. Been thinking, to me breakwalls seem to be a better place to fish than pier (eg Brighton pier and its breakwall).
